Self-funded student program
Self-funded student program
Overview
Information
- This program allows students to study for one semester or one year at an overseas university of their choice, separate from the exchange student program, and return to have their credits recognized. Eligible universities are those recognized by the president that offer regular academic degrees, regardless of whether they have an exchange agreement with UOS.
- Duration: 1 semester or 1 year (at least half of the graduation credits must be earned at UOS)
- Tuition: Pay tuition to UOS to maintain enrollment status, and both semesters and credits will be recognized (only credits will be recognized if studying abroad while on leave)

Note
- Self-funded study abroad does not mean you can go to any university you want; it must be a university recognized by UOS.
☞ Here, "recognized" means submitting the self-funded study abroad application form to the UOS Office of International Affairs and receiving approval.
- All procedures must be completed before studying at the overseas university where you plan to study abroad.
☞ For example, if you plan to study starting from the second semester, you must complete all procedures with the target university by the end of the first semester.
- The admission letter issued by the target university must explicitly state the study period (one semester or one year) and that you will be taking regular semester courses.
☞ Lifelong education (extension) courses cannot be recognized.
