Overview

  • Students who have met the qualifications for submitting master’s or doctorate's thesis will have their degree eligibility determined after submitting their thesis and undergoing thesis review.

Detailed procedures and content

Thesis supervision
  • Selection of thesis advisor within 7 months after admission
  • Composition of the thesis advisory committee for doctorate's program :
    • 1For students admitted in 2021 and earlier: The committee can be formed starting from the semester after completing a total of 42 credits (including credits recognized for the master’s program).
    • 2For students admitted from 2022 onwards: The committee can be formed starting from the semester after completing a total of 18 credits (including credits recognized for the master’s program).
Eligibility for thesis submission
  • Master’s degree program
    • Students who have completed registration for 4 semesters or more and have earned the minimum required credits for completion (24 credits)
    • Students who have passed the foreign language and comprehensive exams
    • Students who have completed the program within 6 years (excluding the duration of military service)
    • Individuals who have registered as a graduate research student after completion
    • Individuals who have completed research ethics training (starting from students admitted in the 2014 academic year)
  • Doctorate's degree program
    • Students who have completed registration for 4 semesters or more and have earned the minimum required credits for completion (for students admitted before 2021: Students who have earned 60 credits or 36 credits for students admitted after 2022)
    • Students who have passed the foreign language and comprehensive exams
    • Individuals who have fulfilled the publication requirements for departmental journals (only publications indicating affiliation with this graduate school after entering the doctorate's program will be recognized)
    • Students who have completed the program within 8 years (excluding the duration of military service)
    • Individuals who have registered as a graduate research student after completion
    • Individuals who have completed research ethics training (starting from students admitted in the 2014 academic year)
  • Combined master’s/doctorate's program
    • Individuals who have completed registration for 6 semesters (including the master’s program) or more after entering the combined master's/doctorate's program and have earned the required minimum credits for completion
    • Students who have passed the foreign language and comprehensive exams
    • Individuals who have fulfilled the publication requirements for departmental journals (only publications that indicate affiliation with this graduate school and were published after entering the combined master's/doctorate's program will be recognized)
    • Students who have completed the program within 8 years (excluding the duration of military service)
    • Individuals who have registered as a graduate research student after completion
    • Individuals who have completed research ethics training (starting from students admitted in the 2014 academic year)
Processing procedure
  • Department notified of the thesis schedule plan after establishing the academic calendar.
  • Department verifies thesis submission eligibility and identifies the students eligible for submission.
  • Department head conducts evaluations, examinations, and submits the results report within the deadlines according to the academic schedule.
  • Department submits the examination results after the evaluation is completed.
  • Students who pass the final examination must complete their thesis in accordance with the required format and guidelines.
  • The final printed version should consist of 5 bound copies of the thesis and 1 digital copy, submitted to the main library’s thesis room for review, public access, and donation purposes.
