Combined Master’s/Doctorate’s Program

This program integrates and operates the master’s and doctorate’s programs to reduce the burden of writing a master’s thesis and preparing for doctoral entrance exams, providing an opportunity to focus on academics and research.

In the combined Master’s/Doctorate’s program, if you complete at least 3 semesters (including the master’s program) and earn more than 24 credits, it will be recognized as the doctorate’s program.
(In this case, the enrollment certificate will indicate “Enrolled in the Doctorate’s Program.”)
Special Admission For Combined Master’s/Doctorate’s Program
- Openings: Within 30% of the doctorate’s program admission quota (181 students); maximum of 54 students

Eligibility
- Students enrolled in the same major of the master’s program at the University of Seoul’s general graduate school (including overseas citizens, foreign nationals, and North Korean defectors) who have completed at least 2 semesters and earned 18 credits or more (including the semester of application)
- Those who have a GPA of 3.5 or higher while enrolled
- Those who have received recommendations from their advisor and head professor

Those who do not violate the regulations of the graduate school and the department’s internal rules
※ All of the above conditions must be met, and those who have completed the program are excluded (students expected to graduate can apply).
- Special benefits: Exemption from writing a master’s thesis and the entrance exam for the doctorate’s program
- Selection method: Candidates are selected based on the total score, which consists of the document review score (100 points) and the oral exam score (100 points).
