[Note: 6 years for students of the Dept. of Architecture (4.5 years for bachelor’s + 1.5 years for master’s)] -
Q
What are the benefits of the combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program?
-
A
- First, upon meeting the graduation and degree requirements, students can shorten the study period by one semester in both the undergraduate and master’s programs.
- Second, based on academic performance, students can receive scholarships for up to 3 semesters during the master’s program (applicable only for full-time students, fixed amount).
- Third, students can take master’s courses during the undergraduate program (these credits and grades will be recognized after entering the graduate program).
-
Q
What is the new fixed amount of scholarship for the combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program?
-
A
Starting from the 2023 academic year, the scholarship has been changed from a full amount to a fixed amount, and for the 2023 academic year, 70% of the tuition fee is being provided. The reason for changing to a fixed amount without specifying a specific figure is to provide the maximum support to eligible students within the budget constraints, and efforts are being made to expand the scholarship budget.

Q
Can I apply if the department for my undergraduate and graduate programs are different?
-
A
You can apply if you obtain recommendation letters from the head of your current undergraduate department and the professor in charge of the graduate department you are applying to (the head of the graduate department), and there are no restrictions between departments.
-
Q
If selected for the combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program, is it immediately recognized as a master’s program?
-
A
- The combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program is divided into undergraduate and master’s stages, and you must fulfill the graduation requirements for the bachelor’s degree before advancing to the master’s program.
-
The graduation requirements for the undergraduate program are as follows:
- Complete at least 7 semesters
- Overall or major GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Fulfill the required major and general education credits as well as the minimum graduation credits set by the department, and complete certification of graduation
-
Q
Are graduate courses mandatory during the undergraduate program? How else is it recognized?
-
A
- Taking graduate courses during the undergraduate program is not mandatory
-
You can earn a maximum of 12 credits (6 credits per semester) for graduate courses during the undergraduate program.
These credits will not be recognized as part of the GPA and earned credits during the undergraduate program, but will be recognized as GPA and earned credits upon entering the graduate program(if a grade of B0 or higher is achieved). -
However, it is applied by reducing the maximum of 6 credits from the general electives of the minimum graduation credits in the undergraduate program.
Example: 130 → 127 minimum graduation credits required when completing 3 credits of graduate courses (required major and general education credits remain unchanged)
-
Q
How can I register for graduate courses during the undergraduate program?
-
A
- During the undergraduate course registration period and the period for checking and changing course registrations, you need to fill out the “Combined Bachelor’s/Master’s Program Course Registration Form” attached in the course registration announcements and submit it to your department’s office. The graduate school administration office will then process the application all at once.
- Please note that the graduate school does not have a separate course withdrawal period, so it is not possible to cancel classes after the course registration confirmation and change period.
-
Q
What happens to the credits earned in graduate courses if I withdraw from the undergraduate program?
-
A
The credits will be automatically canceled, and as a result, the reduction in the minimum graduation credits will also be canceled. Therefore, you must fulfill all the minimum graduation credits required by your department in order to graduate with a bachelor's degree.
-
Q
Must I be selected for early graduation in order to graduate after completing 7 semesters?
-
A
- Since the minimum study period for the undergraduate program in the combined Bachelor’s/Master’s program is 7 semesters, you can advance to the master’s program after completing the undergraduate graduation requirements within 7 semesters, even if you are not selected for early graduation.
