Recruitment guidelinesOperating regulations

General admission degree programs

Master's degree
  • Individuals who have obtained a bachelor's degree from domestic or foreign universities or those expected to obtain a degree upon completion of the current registered semester
  • Individuals recognized as having equivalent or higher academic qualifications under relevant laws
Doctorate's degree
  • Individuals who have obtained a bachelor's degree from domestic or foreign universities or those expected to obtain a degree upon completion of the current registered semester
  • Individuals recognized as having equivalent or higher academic qualifications under relevant laws
Eligibility for master's/doctorate's
Support for North Korean defectors
  • Individuals qualified to apply for master's or doctorate's program
  • Individuals registered as North Korean defectors pursuant to the North Korean Defectors Protection and Settlement Support Act

Minimum publication requirements for doctoral dissertation

  • At least one paper published as first author in a journal listed by the National Research Foundation of Korea

Department regulations - comprehensive examination subjects

  • 3 common courses for master's/doctorate's: 1 course from Theory (Classical Sociological Theory, Modern Sociological Theory), 1 course from Methodology (Social Statistics, Qualitative Methodology), 1 free elective course
  • 2 additional courses for doctorate's: Literature review format in consultation with advisor

Graduate school operating principles

  • Full-time priority: Selection of scholarship recipients - Contact the department if there are changes
