Educational objectives

Core objectives The Department of Life Science aims to cultivate creative professionals who can solve practical problems based on knowledge related to life phenomena. To achieve this, the department provides systematic and broad lectures and laboratory practices to help students acquire specialized knowledge and application methods in advanced life science fields, and to develop scientific analytical skills and logical thinking abilities. The department educates students to understand and apply life science to practical problems in health, medicine, new drug development, energy development, food issues, pollution problems, life industries, material development, new material development, and biochemical process development, which are central functions of advanced industries.

Majors (track)

Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry
  • In-depth understanding and practice of the structure and functional characteristics of major biological materials (proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, etc.)
Immunology and Virology
  • Research on the pathogenesis and control mechanisms of pathogenic microorganisms
Physiology and Signal Transduction
  • Molecular biological analysis of cellular stress responses, apoptosis, and development processes to discover new drug targets
Genetics and Neurobiology
  • Research on the mechanisms of neural development through genomic analysis
