Educational objectives

Core objectives The Department of Urban Planning and Design aims to cultivate urban planning professionals equipped with humanities and social sciences thinking, technological knowledge, and practical administrative skills suitable for Industry 4.0 to solve urban problems in future societies.
Detailed objectives

  • 1. Cultivate urban planning professionals who combine ideas and practical skills

  • 2. Advance to become a globally recognized, research-centered department in the field of urban planning with a focus on convergence

  • 3. Establish global education programs to lead in solving global urban problems
Research areas
  • 1. Urban Design/Future Technology: Visualizing the spatial application of future technologies, suggesting development directions to technology developers, and proposing participatory development plans through living labs
  • 2. Urban Regeneration/Regional Development: Understanding the use of big data related to spatial and activity patterns, predicting planning and development effects, and considering the utility of choice based on economic and social conditions for different activity entities
  • 3. Urban Environment/Sustainable Development: Analyzing the effects of sustainable development and transportation, predicting and responding to air pollution and climate change, and understanding app development for social perception and behavior change
  • 4. Urban Planning/Historical Culture: Understanding increased leisure time and sustainable leisure, establishing and preserving urban and regional identities, and forming a basis for regional development through local communities
