Participation in Research Projects
  • Spatial Information Convergence Core Talent Development Project: MOLIT's spatial information convergence specialized graduate school aims to cultivate core talent with spatial information technology and creativity necessary for the spatial information convergence industry. This graduate school provides specialized education in source spatial information technology and new technology fields, as well as convergence services and content development fields required by the spatial information industry. Additionally, general and industrial scholarships are supported for students enrolled or entering the specialized graduate school through the Spatial Information Convergence Core Talent Development Project.

Research institute
  • Urban Science Research Institute Spatial Information Research Center: This center interprets various spatial data to implement and manage national-level future services and global cyber territories. It also conducts research, development, technical support, evaluation, and education in various spatial information technologies based on an open platform that provides new paradigms of 3D, precision, and real-time information (Smart 4D) and API environments. To implement a smart knowledge society based on location information integrating IT technology, spatial information technology, and humanities and social sciences, a collaborative research system is established among industry, academia, government, and research institutions to build high-value-added future industries based on spatial information in rapidly changing modern society.
  • Urban Science Research Institute Urban Autonomous Vehicle Research Center: The Urban Autonomous Vehicle Research Center aims to theoretically and empirically propose improvements in technology and laws/institutions required to safely and effectively utilize unmanned aerial vehicles and autonomous vehicles in large cities. It conducts research and business activities related to the operation and utilization of unmanned vehicles in large cities.

  • Graduates can pursue careers in various fields such as government agencies, public corporations, GIS and information communication-related companies, research institutes, and graduate school advancement. They can work as public officials in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, National Geographic Information Institute, Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency, Seoul Metropolitan Government, and other provincial governments through civil service exams and obtaining related certifications (e.g., Information Processing Engineer, Cadastral Engineer, Survey and Geospatial Information Engineer). They can also enter public corporations (LX, LH, SH, etc.) or research institutes (KRIHS, Seoul Institute, Korea Environment Institute, Korea Regional Information Development Institute, Defense Acquisition Program Administration, etc.) by passing entrance exams or obtaining relevant certifications. In general companies, they can be employed by GIS-related companies, surveying companies, system integration companies, etc.
